The Sharjah Economic Development Department, SEDD, has received a delegation from the Egyptian Junior Business Association to discuss expanding trade and investment between the two sides, identify the opportunities available in the area of investment projects, and develop their business communities.
The delegation from the association included Yunan Edward, Minister of Trade Commissioner and Head of the Commercial Office of the Egyptian Consulate, and Mohamed Al Maghraby, General Consul of the Egyptian Consulate. The delegation also included Amr Gamal, Chairman of the Egyptian Business Youth Association, Ahmed Al Sayed, Vice President of the Business Youth Association, and Sherif Ahmed Abdul Muttalib, Board Member.
The SEDD stressed the importance of the visit and its role in enhancing cooperation between the two sides. It also emphasised the organisation of such mutual meetings and events in the future, to help introduce the business communities to the advantages of investment in the two countries, encourage people in business and companies to benefit from the opportunities available in various sectors, and establish frameworks of economic cooperation.
The two sides reviewed the most important areas of cooperation and exchanged views on the current and plans through which SEDD seeks to confirm the emirate's status as an attractive destination for investors and provide facilities to enhance the modern and sophisticated infrastructure of Sharjah.
A presentation was given to the delegation about investment opportunities in the emirate provided by the SEDD to investors. These include smart and e-services, connecting with various departments and authorities, as well as the possibility of completing transactions through multiple channels provided by the department. They also presented statistical data regarding the increase in Egyptian investment in Sharjah in recent years.
Commenting on this meeting, Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, SEDD Chairman, underlined the importance of this visit and its role to strengthen cooperation and speed the development process. All of this is done due to SEDD’s concerns to encourage and attract investment and capital in the UAE and Sharjah.
Al Suwaidi added that the attractiveness of the investment climate in the country and the emirate of Sharjah offers many incentives and benefits, in light of its ambitious development plans.
The Egyptian delegation praised the distinguished relations between the Republic of Egypt and the UAE at various levels, noting the role of SEDD in the establishment of economic and trade ties between the two countries.
