King Hamad’s Personal Representative and President of Public Commission for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa today affirmed the importance of having economic projects that have good impact on the Kingdom of Bahrain's economy and its social aspect. Shaikh Abdullah said that such projects must be in line with the government's project for 2011-2014 related to providing electric power and finding solutions for renewable energy utilizing clean energy techniques such as solar and wind power. He also emphasized the need to invest in such fields with world companies with great reputation and competence to provide power for development projects. This he said would contribute towards lowering the pollutions being emitted from power sources. Shaikh Abdullah was speaking during his aerial and land tour of Hawar Islands accompanied by a high level delegation from Masdar Company from the UAE headed by the company's CEO Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber as part of the joint cooperation and training between the two countries. Shaikh Abdullah briefed the delegation during the tour on the outstanding natural environment either it be marine or land. Moreover, Shaikh Abdullah expressed the kingdom's interest in cooperating with Masdar in producing power using renewable energy. He also toured with the delegation the various areas in Hawar Islands and discussed the idea of conducting a study on the possibility of creating a renewable energy city and its feasibility.
