Sharjah Book Authority in London

Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has affirmed that understanding and communication among peoples are a must and a human need, since Islam had called for these noble values 14 centuries ago.

Sheikh Sultan referred to a verse from the Holy Quran which calls for communication, interaction and cooperation among peoples.

He made these remarks while attending a reception yesterday, hosted by the Sharjah Book Authority in honour of the participants at the London Book Fair. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Founder and CEO of Kalimat Group, was present.

During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan tackled the Emirate of Sharjah's efforts to highlight the Arab and Islamic culture in general and that of the UAE in particular, which was embodied in the establishment of a number of cultural events across the world as well as hosting a number of events and festivals and literary, cultural, heritage and artistic centres.

Sheikh Sultan presented some of his literary works which included theatrical, literary and historical works. He also called for the need to work to achieve positive communication which is based on understanding one another through exchange of expertise.

The event witnessed the participation of a number of British intellectuals and writers, owners of publishing houses participating in the London International Book Fair and community figures.

On the side-lines of the event, Sheikh Sultan signed copies of the third part of his latest book 'Discourse of Memory,' in Arabic (Hadeeth Al Zakira).
