Speaker of the National Legislature Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omar arrived in Geneva Saturday to participate in the 139th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which is scheduled to be held in Geneva during 13-18 of the current October. Prof. Omer was received at the Geneva International Airport by the Ambassador Osman Abu Fatima, Acting Permanent Mission of Sudan to the United Nations Office and other Organizations in Geneva and members of the mission. The Chargé d'affaires said that this session would discuss, at the level of the general discussion sittings, the issues of the parliamentary leadership in promoting peace and development in the age of innovation and technological change, as well as the matters of enhancing parliamentary cooperation in the field of migration and its administration in the light of the adoption of the Global Agreement for Secure and Systematic Migration. Abu Fatima explained that the delegation of Sudan would participate in the meetings of the legal bodies of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, including the Governing Council, the Standing Committees, the Human Rights Committees of Parliamentarians and the Middle East matters, in addition to the Women's Parliamentary Forum and the Youth Parliamentarian Forum, stressing that Prof. Omar is to meet a number of his parliament speakers’ counterparts, on the sidelines of the work of this session.
