Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of the Customs Foundation and Free Zone, and Sherif Ismail, Egyptian Prime Minister, have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and boost economic relations binding the UAE and Egypt.
During the meeting, the Egyptian Prime Minister commended the role of UAE investments in Egypt and stressed his country's keenness on the development of economic and trade relations with the UAE. He hailed the outstanding relations between the two countries, praising the development witnessed by the UAE in various fields.
Mr. bin Sulayem said that the UAE is linked with Egypt with historic and close ties, noting that cooperation between the two countries is boosted and strengthened to achieve the interests of the two brotherly peoples and to contribute to strengthening stability in the region.
He stressed that DP world is keen to take part in the Egyptian ports projects, particularly the project of developing the Suez Canal, and is considering expanding its activities in Egypt and strengthening its presence in the Ain Sokhna area which is witnessing a sophisticated logistical and economic renaissance.
Bin Sulayem pointed out that Egypt is a promising market for investors from all over the world due to the Egyptian market's growing needs for investment in various sectors.
He stressed the keenness of the UAE to play its role in Egypt's economy and strengthen its capacity to drive economic development, following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to support the Egyptian economy.
