Visiting Togolese President Faure Gnassingbe paid a visit on Monday to the Pyramids area in Giza, where he expressed his admiration of the monuments and the ancient Egyptians.

The Togolese president was received by Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anani and General Director of the Pyramids monuments Al Hassan Abdel Bassir, the media office of the area told MENA.

Gnassingbe was keen on visiting the great Pyramid of Khufu from inside, Khufu ship museum and the Sphinx, it added.

He also visited the Egyptian Museum in downtown Cairo's Tahrir square.
