Tourism Minister Yehia Rashid left here on Tuesday for Rome for talks with tourism officials in the Vatican concerning a promotion campaign for a program of the Holy Family's journey in Egypt.
The visit comes as part of Egypt's efforts to list the Holy Family's journey on the religious tourism map in a bid to lure a large category of tourists from all over the world.
In statements before departure, the minister said the visit aims at utilizing the successful trip of Pope Francis II to Egypt.
Following his visit to the Vatican, the minister will head for Spain leading a high-profile tourism delegation to attend the 105th session of the executive council of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), which is due to convene on Wednesday and run till May 12.
The minister will also attend the elections of WTO's secretary general.
