Every year April 23 is celebrated as the National Children’s Day in Turkey. For the eight year in a row, the occasion was marked by the Turkish Consulate in Dubai on Friday at The Cultural & Scientific Association in Al Mamzar.
The event, organized with the support of the Turkish Business Council in Dubai & Northern Emirates, was brought to life by a team of volunteers — “Sultans of Dubai” — a group of Turkish women living in the emirate.
The event included a folkloric dance show by “Hasan Tan Ilkokulu,” a primary school in Istanbul, the Turkish Consulate’s class choir comprising songs and poems, a breathtaking performance by DuGym Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, a show by Dubai Drums demonstrating the beats of African drums; a magic show by Magic Phil, and many more activities.
Music band Ahuzar, which came all the way from Turkey, also performed during the event.
A selection of Turkish and international cuisines was offered by Turkish restaurants in Dubai.
There were several entertainment stations for children.
The main sponsor of the event was Pinar. Other sponsors included: Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana Dubai, Ibrakom, MNG, LC Waikiki, Sandalyeci, Ruya Restaurant, HealthBay Polyclinic, Turkish Village Restaurant, Marmara Hotel Apartments, Mahmood Tea and TAV Construction.
All sponsor companies offered gifts and vouchers for a draw, which attracted much interest from the audience.
