A US congressional delegation wrapped up a visit to Egypt during which he met with a number of Egyptian officials, the US Embassy in Cairo said Wednesday.

The delegation grouped Michael Conaway (R-TX), Ralph Abraham (R-LA), and Gwen Graham (D-FL).

In a press release Wednesday, the embassy said the delegation met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi for talks on regional security, stability, and economic development. 

Touring the Giza plateau, they visited the groundwater lowering project at the Sphinx. Developed in coordination with the Ministry of Antiquities, the USAID project aims at protecting the historical monument from damage due to excessive groundwater. 

The delegation also met with World Food Program (WFP) representatives and Syrian refugees to discuss WFP food distribution programs. 

The US, through USAID, has provided dlrs 37 million to the WFP in support of Syrian refugees in Egypt.
