Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf inspected work progress in the Avenues Mall Project, which is planned for completion in March 2017. Khalaf urged the team in charge of implementation to overcome any obstacles or difficulties facing the project.
The Minister toured the Avenues, accompanied by Municipalities Affairs Undersecretary Dr. Nabeel Abul Fatih, Chief Executive of Diyyar Al Muharraq Dr. Maher Al Shaer, Chief Executive of Mabanee Waleed Al Shoraian, Vice General Manager of Mabanee Eng. Jassim Al Miqbil, Development Director Mohammed Ayoub Abdul Salam, the Roads Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Huda Fakhro, the Corporate Municipality Services Assistant Undersecretary Eng. Raed Al Salah, Roads Planning & Design Director Eng. Kadhem Abdul Latif, a number of engineers from the Ministry and representatives to the company in charge of implementation.
The Minister Khalaf listened to a detailed explanation about project implementation and the phases that have been so far completed. He stressed the importance of completing the project on due date.
Chief Executive of Mabanee Waleed Al Shoraian stated that 70% of the Bahrain Avenues has been completed and work is progressing as per the project plan. The main construction works have been completed, in addition to the area allocated for the cinemas. Also, roofs, floors, toilets and the glass facing the sea have been completed, besides commencing work on the structure of the steel dome for the mall and the southern garden.
Al Shoraian reiterated that the external works for the mall are progressing as per schedule, while work is underway to pave the outside roads and walkways with asphalt. Work has also commenced on the implementation of the main storm water drainage network for the mall, connecting the sewerage channels and installing the irrigation channels for afforestation and aesthetic purposes.
The Avenues Mall, whose implementation commenced in February the 15th last year, is considered to be an outstanding project that will provide visitors with a unique experience, as it located in the centre of Manama facing King Faisal Highway. Also, the design of the mall allows the sunlight to enter the mall without the heat of the sun. The mall extends over an area of 273,000m2, 75,000m2 of which are open green areas and public gardens. Also, the mall overlooks a brilliant waterfront, while the areas for rent occupy 40,000m2, including global commercial shops, food court and coffee shops. The parking lot also accommodates over 1,400 vehicles.
Visitors will also have the chance to enjoy the view of a charming waterfront at the length of 1.5km, which comprises of a kids playing area, a jogging track, a game hall, luxurious restaurants and coffee shops, commercial shops and cinemas. A public garden is occupying 85% of the total mall area.
The parties in charge of the project are a group of Bahraini investors, in partnership with Mohammed Mahmoud Al Shaea Company; a leading company in the retail sector located in Kuwait, and Mabanee; the owner of the Avenues Mall of Kuwait. The cost of the project is BD45 Million.
