Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf has given directives to begin revamping the Safra Stadium, establish car park for the Safra Intermediate Girls’ School and set up a rainwater drainage network in the region.
This came as the minister made and inspection visit to the Southern Governorate’s ninth constituency, including Safra, Dar Kulaib, Shahrakan, Zallaq and Al-Areen area.
MP Mohsen Al-Bakri, municipal councilor, Badr Al-Dossari, Municipalities Affairs Undersecretary, Dr. Nabil Abu Al-Fateh, Southern Municipality’s Director-General, Assim bin Abdullatif Abdulla and a number of the Ministry’s officials accompanied the minister during his tour.
The field tour is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to make field visits to regions to assess the conditions of the citizens, and identify their needs, as well as to follow up on the progress of various projects.
The minister was informed about what has been achieved since his last visit to the constituency, as well as about the obstacles facing some projects.
He discussed the expansion of some streets in Safra, especially road 4443, and the establishment of a rainwater drainage network.
While in Dar Kulaib, the minister listened to the citizens’ remarks regarding some municipal laws and regulations, and instructed officials to remove some of them and to refer others to the Public Prosecution.
The minister also visited Bloc 1056 in Zallaq and was informed about the region’s needs, including a sanitation network, the pavement of dust roads and the rainwater drainage network.
It is to be noted that the Tender Board had recently awarded a BD 1.3 million tender to rehabilitate bloc 1056 in Zallaq, and following that the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry will commence rehabilitating the roads and rainwater drainage water.
While visiting Al-Areen area, the minister listened to the residents’ complaints about sanitation, and pledged to address the matter as soon as possible.
MP Mohsen Al-Bakri thanked the minister and the Ministry’s officials for their keenness on cooperating with him to develop the region and advance its services.
