Beijing - Arab Today
Chinese President Xi Jinping left Beijing Thursday morning for state visits to Cambodia and Bangladesh, and the 8th BRICS summit in Goa of India, Xinhua news agency reported Thursday.
Xi was invited by Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, respectively.
Xi's state visits to Cambodia and Bangladesh will serve to deepen strategic cooperation and step up regional connectivity under China's Belt and Road Initiative.
There is great potential in Cambodia's cooperation with China, its largest trading partner and source of foreign investment, as its development strategy is highly complementary with the Chinese initiative.
As an important hub of transport in Southeast Asia, Cambodia also held a key position on the ancient maritime silk road that used to connect the East with the West.
