Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf said that his services are "ready" to handle any suspected cases of infectious diseases, thanks to the "early warning system."
In reply to an oral question of a member of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) about the measures taken by the Health Ministry to face the epidemics that appeared in some countries (Ebola and Corona), Boudiaf recalled the measures taken by his department, which has managed to prevent the spread of some viral diseases thanks to the early warning system set up in 2006.
The minister said that no case of contamination by Ebola virus has been reported in Algeria, adding that the surveillance and warning system has been strengthened at ports, airports and borders.
On instruction of Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, and on the occasion of the return of Algerian Hajjis from the Holy Places of Islam, medical units have been mobilized at the different airports, said Boudiaf, adding that the deaths recorded among the Algerian hajjis are not caused by viral diseases.
