Medical centre for sickle cell patients

In line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to provided sickle cell patients with optimum services, the Health Ministry has coordinated with John Hopkins Medicine International, in Baltimore, Maryland, the USA, to assist in upgrading healthcare provided for patients suffering from the sickle cell disease.
Hopkins Medicine International is an educational hospital and a medical research centre affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University medical college. The cooperation plan is put in place in coordination with Bahrain Sickle Cell Society and aims to evaluate the current situation in Bahrain and map out an educational and training programme for the medical and nursing cadres in Bahrain.
Health Minister Sadaq bin Abdulkarim Al Shehabi paid tribute to HRH the Prime Minister for the special care accorded to the sickle cell patients, underlining the Health Ministry's efforts to improve medical services provided for them.
