Canal hospitals

A team of the Health Ministry's central administration for non-governmental treatment foundations have checked preparedness of 35 hospitals in three of the canal cities to make sure all health services are to be offered at best quality few hours ahead of the inaugural ceremony of the new Suez Canal.

The team held a meeting with directors of the 35 hospitals and their emergency departments over three days from Wednesday to Friday.

The Ministry of Health asserted that the hospitals were ordered to abide by the cabinet decision to accept the treatment of emergency patients at the expense of the health ministry for 48 hours from their admission.

The Ministry of Health also announced that a crisis management room has been established at the ministry as of Wednesday coinciding with the start of the celebrations. Rapid medical teams have also been prepared to deal with any emergencies and ambulances have been briefed on their locations on highways.

As many as 340 ambulances are involved in the security plan outlined by the ministry to secure any medical needs during the new waterway celebrations.
