A Dubai Health Authority

A Dubai Health Authority, DHA, delegation, led by its Director-General, Essa Al-Maidoor, has recently participated in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, HIMSS, conference and exhibition in the USA.

The HIMSS conference is considered to be one of the finest gatherings of information technology specialists working in the field of smart health solutions.

Al Maidoor said that Dubai is making great strides towards transforming its services to smart government services, referencing the DHA’s plans to launch the Smart Personal Medical File and complete all smart solutions projects by the end of 2017. He spoke further on the project, saying that it stems from the DHA’s plan to implement smart solutions in the health sector.

He said that the DHA is working towards comprehensive smart solutions in the healthcare field from management, lab work, digital archiving etc., adding that the presence of over 1,300 companies in the accompanying exhibition allows the authority to examine the latest medical practices.

More than 250 non-profit health-related organisations and 600 healthcare institutions participated in the conference.

The DHA delegation visited a number of kiosks during the exhibition to review the latest innovations, including a digital display allowing in-patients to select the choice of dietary foods that will be prepared for them by dietary experts as per their conditions. The delegation also visited existing smart hospitals with an aim to see how such smart services can be implemented at DHA hospitals, and to review latest innovative solutions for the smart archiving of digital photos, which began in DHA in 2007. Thanks to the continuous development of technology, digital photos can now be viewed by physicians via smart applications without the need for the physician to be physically present.

Dr. Manal Taryam, CEO of Primary Healthcare Sector and Head of the Smart Services Committee, Amani Al Jassmi, Director of DHA IT Department, Dr. Mohammad Al Redha, Director Health Data and Information Analysis Department, Naeema Hassan Al Balooshi, Acting Head of Corporate Applications Section, Ameera Al Sheiban, Senior Systems Analyst and Nadia Al-Marzouqi, member of the Smart Pharmacy Committee, were part of the delegation.
