Hepatitis C drug

The syndicate of pharmacists has said the health minister's statements about the non-existence of an Indian-made Hepatitis C drug (Sovaldi) are inaccurate.
In a statement on Thursday, the syndicate noted the minister had said there was no Indian-made Sovaldi, which is not true according to the official agreement with the US pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences.
According to the agreement, India would start producing the drug after eight months, he statement added
The syndicate questioned the health ministry's transparency, saying: "The terms of the agreement between the ministry and Gilead Sciences were not announced."
The syndicate also said it was not invited to the negotiations with the pharmaceutical company.
