Health Minister Adel Adawy opened a factory of Indian Healthcare Pharmaceuticals in Sadat City, Menoufia, on Sunday.

The plant will operate eight lines for the production of a local version of Solvadi drug for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection under a license of the US Gilead Sciences company.

Egypt has the highest prevalence of HCV in the world.
