A new report issued by the World Bank revealed that the Egyptian people pay 72% of health care costs from their own money.
The report, titled "A Roadmap to Achieve Social Justice in Health Care in Egypt" added that an improvement was achieved in the Egyptian's health care over the past twenty years.
The report lays out a 2030 roadmap to achieve social justice in health by prioritizing areas related to service delivery, financial protection, and quality of care.
According to the report, there was a deficit in Upper Egypt and the countryside, especially as indicators proved a poor health situation in these areas.
Child mortality rates hit 40% in Upper Egypt, the report said.
Senior health specialist Dr. Alaa Hamed said that the report seeks to draw up recommendations to improve the health care system in Egypt in short and medium terms, with a focus on disadvantaged groups.
