A community Health Fair focused on healthy and abundant living, organised by the  Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFSQ) in conjunction with experts from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), opened here Wednesday. The first Health Fair which opened at the atrium in SFSQ campus in Education City, features booths with information and health screenings, available at no cost. This initiative is part of SFSQ s efforts to ensure community wellness and promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Visitors to the fair had the opportunity to their blood pressure and blood sugar checked, eyes tested and body mass index calculated with HMC doctors and medical staff present to offer a broad range of clinical advice and brief consultation sessions from women s health and dermatology to podiatry, smoking-cessation and balanced diet. A number of private health and wellness providers, Art of Abundant Living, The Diet Center, The Green Box, yoga instructor and personal trainers were in attendance at the Health Fair. SFSQ Health and Wellness Officer Mary Bryan said, \"SFSQ would like to increase the number of people in Qatar who are healthy at every stage of life. We strongly believe that when people are feeling their healthiest, they contribute more to the society.\" \"Our first Health Fair is geared to create health awareness and to get people to be aware of their diet, promote fitness and help them, if they are sick, to learn ways to address them. It’s a good opportunity for all those who made health-related New Year’s resolutions and are as a result facing difficulty in keeping them,\" she added. (QNA)
