France's Health Minister Marisol Touraine on Thursday stressed the necessity to step up vigilance to cope with possible cases of fatal Ebola virus that left more than 600 victims in African countries.
"Currently, the risk of bringing the virus in Europe and France is weak. No case has been reported yet," the minister told the daily Le Parisien.
"However, extreme vigilance is needed to face this very serious and contagious disease, which progresses in Africa," she said, adding that France would have the required means to fight against the virus once it was detected in the European country.
According to the World Health Organization, Ebola virus killed 672 people in the West African countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone since the outbreak started in February.
With no known cure, the Ebola disease has symptoms that include vomiting, diarrhea and internal and external bleeding.
