Health Ministry will hold a celebration on Tuesday at the Pyramids area under the title “Egyptian Hepatitis Day” after providing medical treatment to 800,000 Hepatitis C patients at a cost of EGP 2.8 billion.
The celebration will be attended by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, head of World Health Organization and representatives from a number of international organizations concerned with the health sector.
Health Minister Ahmed Emad el Din said that the Egyptian leadership is keen on eliminating Hepatitis C from all over Egypt.
He added that a number of measures were taken concerning treating Hepatitis C patients including increasing the number of centers treating Hepatitis C to 153 and providing and unifying medications nationwide.
The minister announced that the procedures increased the percentage of treated patients to 4.4 between one and 59 years of age.
