Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr

Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, accompanied by the director of the Middle East and Europe office at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), paid a visit on Wednesday to Cairo's Abul Rish hospital for children.

The visit, attended by Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Cairo University Fathy Khodair, aims at following up the construction of outpatient clinics at the hospital.

The construction process is funded by Japan according to a grant of 1.56 billion Japanese yen (dlrs 14 million).

In press statements on Wednesday, Nasr stressed the ministry's keenness on backing the development process of the hospital through providing better medical service for children and their families as well as providing aid for the needy.

Nasr also stated that her ministry is keen to provide more grants for health sector, particularly children hospitals.

On that score, the minister voiced full appreciation for the Japanese government's interest in backing efforts exerted by Egypt's government to hone services provided for Egyptians, especially with regard to upgrading health sector. 

Since early 1980s, Japan has been providing Egypt with grants equal to dlrs 3.58 million to carry out more than five projects of establishing, expanding and renovating Abul Rish hospital in addition to improving other medical services.
