The Health Directorate put on Wednesday hospitals on heightened alert in anticipation of any bird flu infection.
No bird flu case has been reported by any of Kafr El-Sheikh hospitals so far, Health Undersecretary Lamis Maadawi said. But hospitals were put on alert to detect any suspected case.
From this month on to March, the virus becomes active given cold weather, she said, urging citizens to be keen on house ventilation and stay away from crowded places to avoid any infection.
Tamiflu vaccines are available in the governorate, she said.
