The Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Patients Helping Fund Society organized here on Tuesday an awareness campaign on Ebola virus that has been spreading in different areas across the globe.
The World Health Organization and its member states pay more attention to Ebola virus; especially it spreads widely not only in West Africa but also in many parts of the world, Director of Information Department of the Ministry of Health Ghalia Al-Mutairi said in a press statement on the sidelines of the campaign.
More than 22,000 cases of Ebola have been confirmed until February 4, with about 9,000 deaths, she said, noting due to large numbers of passengers, the virus is expected to spread into other parts across the globe, if the precautions recommended by the WHO are not taken. Kuwait's Ministry of Health has taken required measures to prevent the spread of this virus into the country, she said, underlining the significance of educating individuals about the virus' risks, especially as Kuwait has many expatriates from many countries.
The awareness program includes lectures on Ebola virus and how to prevent and combat it, as well as the latest spread of the virus worldwide, she noted.
Two films prepared by the ministry were also displayed to raise public awareness on the virus, she concluded.
