Middle East healthcare conference

The Health Care in the Middle East Conference kicked off here Tuesday with the participation of over 150 healthcare dignitaries from across the globe.
A large number of GCC healthcare experts and officials are partaking in the event, themed "Healthcare in the Middle East...Evolution and Reform".
The conference, sponsored by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), addresses a number of key issues relevant to healthcare in the Middle East including the impact of mandatory health insurance on the sector, how can the private sector be encouraged to take a greater role, how can essential health services meet the increasing demand and which technologies will help transform the delivery of care.
It also touched upon issues such as the progress made in developing home grown medical workforces, the extent of unification of imported drugs on the market and how is the evolution of health care provision affecting patients, employers, care providers and insurers.
