The number of new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) carriers in South Korea exceeded the 1,000 mark last year, government data showed Sunday.
According to the data from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), the number of newly reported HIV-positive people in South Korea was 1,114 in 2013, up 16 percent from the previous year.
