President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi laid Thursday the foundation stone for the medical city of King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in Sana’a. The total cost of the project is US$ 230 million, with the Saudi contributing of US$ 200 million and the Yemeni government US$ 30 million The medical project will be built on the ruins of an ex-artillery camp in Sana’a. President Hadi was greeted at the project’s site by the Saudi Development Fund (SDF)Vice President and Managing Director Yusuf al-Bassam. “This medical city is a new addition to the strong links between the two brotherly peoples of Yemen and Saudi Arabia and their continuous cooperation and work together to face the challenges and acts of terrorism”, President Hadi said. The President also laid the foundation stone for the construction project of new road and tunnel at the southern part of the capital Sana’a at a cost of US$62 million, including US$ 50 million funded by the SFD and US$ 12 million by the Yemeni government. President Hadi hailed the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support Yemen permanently, saying "This is not new to Saudi Arabia and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to link the two brotherly countries with love and brotherhood". The President was also briefed on a US$50 million project of developing and rehabilitating several areas of the capital Sana’a. The project will be financed by the Saudi Development Fund.
