Syrian refugees in Jordan

The Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) has confirmed it will set up health and education projects to support Syrian refugees in Jordan.

To ease the burden on Jordan, the Qatari foundation has decided to build a number of schools for children of Syrian refugees, in addition to establishing a maternity hospital in Amman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and General Director of RAF Foundation, Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani told Petra.

He said the growing number of Syrian refugees crossing into Jordan was putting pressure on the Kingdom's limited resources, and cited Palestinian and Iraqi forced migrations to Jordan and wars seen in the Arab region as examples.

Among the prominent projects implemented by the RAF are medical and construction projects, along with seasonal multi-purpose projects worth JD21million, Al Qahtani added.

The RAF is coordinating with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) and other international organizations to provide all support to the refugees to achieve social solidarity.
