A Saudi national died on Friday of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), or coronavirus, the Health Ministry said.

The ministry added in a statement that no new infections have been identified but only one case has died.

The new death brings the toll to 461 out of a total of 1,048 infections since the appearance of the virus in the kingdom in June 2012, it said.

As many as 580 cases have recovered while seven others are still in hospitals.
