The number of infant deaths in South Korea dropped over 10 %t in 2009 from a year earlier apparently thanks to advanced medical technologies, a report showed Wednesday. The number of babies who died within a year of birth came to 1,415 in 2009, down 10.4% or 165 from a year earlier, according to the report by Statistics Korea.
