Spain on Friday announced the formation of a special committee to manage the developments of Ebola virus, while at least 14 suspected cases are still under quarantine in La Paz-Carlos III hospital in Madrid.
In a press conference held following a cabinet meeting in Madrid earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Soraya Saenz de Santamaria said that she would preside over the special committee, which will includes Minister of Health Ana Mato and a host of representatives of ministers, including ministers of interior and foreign affairs.
She pointed out that the committee, which is set to meet once everyday, aims at discussing the developments of Ebola virus and strengthening cooperation among ministries and agencies inside the country as well as revealing transparently information relating to the virus.
Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy visited Hospital Carlos III Friday where Spanish nurse Teresa Romero remains hospitalised.
Rajoy was accompanied by Head of the Madrid Regional Government Ignacio Gonzalez.
They met the medical team that has treated Romero and 13 other patients being kept under observation.
In a press statement, Rajoy told journalists that the Ebola outbreak, according to European Commission's data, is "very low." An experimental drug called ZMAb is available to treat Romero, Spanish TV reported, citing sources at Ministry of Health as saying.
