The Director General of World Health Organization (WHO) Margaret Chan was received on Saturday by Malian Prime Minister Moussa Mara, according to an official statement.
As the head of a large delegation, Chan came to Bamako at the invitation of Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita to organize response against Ebola as the country has recently recorded several cases of the epidemic, the statement said.
The delegation, which will stay until November 25, will proceed Malian actors with a joint analysis of the situation, needs and strengthening coordinated and urgent manner of the international community in the implementation of the national response plan.
The delegation members visited anti-Ebola facilities in Bamako and focused on raising awareness via the involvement of civil society, religious and regional personnel.
Authorities are gradually creating an organizational chart and regional teams to contain the spread of the Ebola virus.
Mali confirmed its first Ebola case in late October.
