Cairo -Â Shaimaa Mekkawy
Moroccan singer Layla Ghofran Cairo - Shaimaa Mekkawy Moroccan singer Layla Ghofran tells Arabstoday that she has a surprise for her fans. Although she has never considered herself an actress, the star is preparing to star in the show "Fawazeer" next Ramadan. Layla said that this season of "Fawazeer" will be different from what was done by the show's former stars, Nelli and Sherihan, as several actors will alternatively star in the show this season. Arabstoday interviewed Layla where she spills the beans: AT: Tell us about the new production company you have launched. LG: We actually started working on it several months ago. We plan to provide general media and artistic production, relying on young talent. We have already started a TV show called "Whose sound.. Whose image", which will be broadcast next Ramadan. We are also working on a TV series called "Nas Mennena" (People Who Belong To Us), and the cast will include Karim Al-Husseiny, Hossam Fares, Donia Al-Masry, and Sherif Omar. We are planning to produce a film about Mubarak's resignation speech as well, called "The Last Speech". It will be directed by Mohsen Mohei Al-Din. AT: Are the new company's issues affecting your singing? LG: Actually it is the opposite, being a producer has increased my desire to work in general. AT: How did you take the verdict issued against the person accused of murdering your daughter? LG: I'm satisfied with all that God grants me. I'm sure the defendant was judged fairly and according to the evidence and witnesses' testimonies, I can't issue a verdict by myself...I'm a mother who found her daughter murdered, so I will be emotional in my assessment. We as Moroccans are very similar to the people of Upper-Egypt in that aspect, but anyway, I'm satisfied that the one who committed this crime was punished with the appropriate penalty. AT: Do you have any comment about the alleged involvement of the former PM Ahmed Nazif's son in this incident? LG: I had never said that, I had avoided talking to the media for the last nine months because of these rumours. AT: What else is new with you? LG: I'm working on a new album, which will be totally different from what I have done before.
