Gaza - Mohammed Habib
Three Palestinians died on Tuesday morning, after drowning in wastewater in a tunnel in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip. Sources said that victims were found alive and transferred immediately to Abu Yousif Najjar Hospital, where they died few hours later. The sources added that the three victims are; Firas Ahmad Alshaer, Fadi Abu Arada and Anwar Abu Arada. The wastewater came from the Egyptian side of the borders and flooded the tunnel during the work of the three young Palestinians. 17 Palestinians were killed since the beginning of the year, where 197 died since 2006 in the tunnels accidents. Those tunnels connect Gaze Strip to Egypt and have been used to smuggle goods since the Israeli siege was imposed on Gaza. Human rights organizations in the Gaza Strip expressed their concern on the constant incidents and called to take all necessary measures to stop them. Human rights organizations have also renewed their call to the international community to lift the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, and allow in goods to the Gaza Strip, which will lead to close the tunnels and protect the lives of hundreds of young Palestinian.
