Hezbollah official Sheikh Muhammad Yazbek announced that Hezbollah Commander Abu Abbas was killed in Syria defending ill-treated Lebanese nationals. Hezbollah announced that Abbas was killed “performing his Jihadist duties” on Tuesday. On the one-week commemoration of the commander’s death, dozens of people gathered to celebrate the life of Abu Abbas. During his speech, Yazbek said: “He was killed as he was taking Lebanon’s responsibility to defend the Lebanese”. “Martyr leader Abu Abbas was a person of deeds, who spent thirty years of his life serving the state. He ran hundreds of operations against the Israeli enemy. He always helped those in need,” Yazbek said. “Hezbollah will take the responsibility to defend his family and people, and the responsibility to defend the Lebanese people. When the state abandoned its responsibility to protect its people and left them to face their fate, we resisted and defeated their army.” Rebels have accused Assad’s regime for the killing.
