A huge fire broke out after loud explosions shook south Khartoum late Tuesday evening. The explosion took place at an arms factory in Sudan’s capital. The governor of Khartoum, Abdul Rahman Kedr said the violent explosions went on for almost half an hour. Investigations are in progress to determine the cause of the fire and explosions. He said the reasons were unclear but that nothing pointed to an attack. The fire brigade put out the fire in two hours, according to the governor. No casualties were reported. Similar explosions took place in ammunition factories close to the explosion site.
