The Asian Chess Summit, a 3-day gathering of leaders of national chess federations in Asia, is to be held 29th to 31st August, 2016, at the Danat International Hotel in Al Ain.

The event is organised by the Asian Chess Federation under the leadership of its president, Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifah Al Nahyan, and with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The event consists of a Symposium, Development Programme, Forum and Continental Assembly.

An Asian Chess Symposium will feature well-known chess personalities lecturing on their areas of expertise, including former World Chess Federation, FIDE, Vice President, Ali Nihat Yazici of Turkey, who will speak about the 'Chess in Schools' projects, in particular the Turkish success story.

FIDE Development Commission Chairman, Allan Herbert, will speak on development projects around the world and examples of setting goals, measuring and achieving them, while Olympic Council of Asia Coordination Committee member, Abdulla Al Mulla, will speak on event management, in particular the Asian Games. Al Mulla is currently Director of Protocol with the Olympic Council of Asia and was recently elected Protocol Chief with ANOC, the Association of National Olympic Committees.
