Syrian President Bashar Al Assad

In his first comment on the recapture of historic city of Palmyra by ISIS, Syrian President Bashar Al Assad accused the United States of supervising the process.

He added, in a statement to Japanese TBS news, that the extremist militias took the city under the protection of the U.S drones, saying, “They came through the desert and they occupied Palmyra.”

The Syrian president added that the ISIS had been created under the supervision of the United States and sponsored by Turkey, so Syria could not expect a genuine fight against Daesh from those countries.

Earlier in the day, reports emerged that ISIL militants destroyed the world-known tetrapylon and parts of the Roman theater in the ancient city of Palmyra.
