Member of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO), and Head of the Refugee Affairs Department Prof. Zakariya al-Agha, called the international community, the UN, and UN Security Council to seek the perpetrators of the Sabra and Shatila massacre and bring them to the International Court of Justice. Al-Agha asserted in a press release issued Saturday at the 30th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre that he would continue the path of struggle and liberation until obtaining all the legitimate rights of returning home, and establishing their independent state, its capital Jerusalem. He clarified: “Sabra and Shatila massacre was an atrocious horrible crime committed by the government of Israeli occupation with direct orders from the criminal Sharon that left more than 3500 Palestinian and Lebanese martyrs dead, mostly women and children, and thousands of missing people.” He said that the massacre caused a bloody, bleeding wound in the forehead of global humanity and left a mark in the criminal history of the Israeli enemy on the two nations, Palestine and Lebanon. He explained that the occupation government - following its defeat at the gates of Beirut and failure to pass its criminal plan of subjugating the Palestinian people and targeting their fixed national core values, once again repeated the act in Jenin camp, then the latest war on Gaza. He clarified that the occupation government still continues its racist policy and its atrocious crimes against the Palestinian people despite the 30 years since the Sabra and Shatila massacres, while Israeli leaders call for exterminating the Palestinian people. Al-Agha criticised the silence policy followed by the international community and overlooking occupation crimes. He stressed that the Palestinian people face a real threat with the escalation of racist Israeli statements that threaten to exterminate the Palestinian people and the government’s positive response toward them. He insisted that this requires the international community to come out of its silence and chase the perpetrators of massacres against the Palestinian people and bring them to the International Court of Justice. He called on the UN and UN Security Council to provide international protection for the Palestinian people against the hostile settlers and their plans of committing more massacres against Palestinian people. He reminded Palestinian people at home and in the diaspora of commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre, which will always remain a scar.
