Gulf Cooperation Council Countries

The German Consul General in Dubai, Stefan Gallon, was at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah this afternoon in order to give the final address at the closing ceremony of the Energy and Water in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries (EWGCC) workshop.

The three-day workshop was organised by the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) and Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe, a university of applied sciences located in Germany. The conference was also funded by the German Research Foundation.

Before the closing ceremony, Stefan Gallon was welcomed to the University by Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, President of AURAK. The German Consul expressed his satisfaction at seeing such collaboration between academic and research institutes from Germany and the United Arab Emirates, adding that this was his first academic visit in the UAE.

Professor Al Alkim and Stefan Gallon also discussed the possibility of further bilateral cooperation as the two countries aim to further strengthen relationships.

In AURAK’s newly-constructed Building G, Stefan Gallon addressed the conference participants: a large number of academics and researchers from across the UAE and Germany. He praised the conference, emphasising the need for sustainable solutions to problems linked with scarce resources.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe’s Professor Salman Ajib announced that his institution intends to develop a long-term relationship with AURAK, and that the two parties will strive to organize further conferences.
