According to a statement from the US Department of State, Hilary Clinton will be on a business tour in the Balkan countries, with a visit to Algeria planned for October 30. The statement said: “The Secretary will consult with President Bouteflika on issues of bilateral and regional concern and will follow up the productive discussions on economic and security cooperation at the US-Algeria Strategic Dialogue held in Washington on October 19.” This is the second visit of the US Minister of Foreign Affairs to Algeria this year. The first visit was on February 25 within her tour in Maghreb dedicated to democratic reforms. This comes in special regional conditions with the developments in Mali and the potential military intervention supported by France. It is expected that this issue dominates the discussions between Clinton and President Bouteflica.
