Egyptian armed forces have arrested a jihadist believed to be involved in several armed attacks on the police and military in Sinai. The criminal was convicted by an Egyptian court last August and was sentenced to death along 13 other defendants for killing seven people – six police officers and a civilian. The police surprised the criminal in the early hours of Saturday morning where he was hiding in Sheikh Zuwaid. Egypt is currently fighting against jihadist groups after a checkpoint at Rafah border was attacked on August 15, killing sixteen soldiers and an Egyptian officer.
