NATO's Resolute Support mission

 NATO's Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan has confirmed that a convoy of its troops has been attacked in southern Kandahar.

The attack, which took place on Wednesday afternoon according to Deutsche Presse-Agentur, DPA, caused some casualties, a tweet by the mission's account said.

Resolute Support did not identify the nationality of the troops attacked, or if they were killed or injured.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yosuf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it took place near an Afghan intelligence quick reaction force base in the Shor Andam area of Daman district.
