Six new UAE ambassadors to friendly countries have been sworn in before Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Present at the event were H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister.
Those who took the oath of office were UAE Ambassadors-designate Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Bana to India, Mohammed Yusouf Al Awadi to Peru, Gazi Abdullah Al Mahri to Ethiopia, Abdullah Abdul Rahman Al Tunaiji to Mongolia, Khaled Omran to Japan and Badr Abdullah Al Matrouchi to Cuba.
The new ambassadors pledged loyalty to their state and its president, respect for the constitution and laws, and place the state's interests over any other considerations, while performing their diplomatic tasks with a high sense of honesty, integrity and confidentiality.
Sheikh Mohammed wished the ambassadors success in their missions consistent with the foreign policy in order to serve the UAE's higher interests abroad. HH urged them to set a good example in upholding high morality and good treatment of all people, notably the UAE citizens in host countries.
'The interest of the UAE and its citizens is top priority over any other personal interests and calculations. There is no way for compromising the state's international prestigious reputation and standing or our people's higher interest,' HH underscored.
He also expressed confidence that UAE ambassadors abroad would implement directives given by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Minister, who is personally along with his aides following up the performance of the ambassadors and keep them well informed about new developments within the ministry and the state in general.
Sheikh Mohammed urged them to promote the UAE's cultural, humanitarian, economic and tourist potentials so as to attract more tourists, businessmen, scientists and intellectuals in order to see for themselves the local rich culture, heritage and traditions.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Lt. General Musabbah Rashid Al Fattan, Director of Dubai Ruler's Office, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Dubai Director of Protocol and Hospitality, and a number of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
