Egyptian Foreign Minister, Mohamed Kamel Amr, denied reports of receiving any threats to stop US aid to Egypt, following the offensive film demonstrations about the Prophet Mohammed. Washington Post Newspaper mentioned that the US Congress is considering a new bill to suspend or cut the aid to Egypt after the last events and demonstrations against the United States. However, the Minister said: “There are no problems in the relationship between Egypt and the United States, but we all know there were demonstrations in front of the embassy. Fortunately there were no life losses in Egypt and the situation was contained, which was appreciated by the American side.” Kamel Amr said that there are indicators to discuss the funding bill and that the US administration expressed clearly that Egypt’s aid would not decrease - this was supported by the Senate and the House of Representatives. He added: “Of course there are attempts from inside the Congress to suspend aid to Egypt but the majority are in favour of keeping the aid to Egypt the same.”
