New information has been revealed in an investigation into the escape of three dangerous members of the Islamist group Fatah al-Islam (also known as Conquest of Islam) from Roumieh prison, Lebanon. The investigation revealed that clashes between inmates and prison guards allowed the three convicts to escape. For the first time in four years, the Lebanese forces searched the prison and discovered more than 500 phones with internet connection, knives, hacksaws and drugs. the army listed all inmates in the prison. A source told Arabstoday that the three criminals escaped thanks to fake ID cards. Military prosecutor Sakr Sakr ordered the arrest of the prison's director Ahmed Abu Dahar and other soldiers. Thirteen individuals working at the Roumieh prison have been arrested so far. The Lebanese Ministers of Justice and Interior visited Roumieh on Monday to launch the new court room built inside the jail. The court was building in order to try the Fatah al-Islam members.
