The Progressive Socialist Party Secretary General, Zafer Nasser, hosted a reconciliation meeting between representatives of political parties and powers in Mount Lebanon.   The reconciliation came after clashes that erupted two weeks ago which lead to the death of a Hezbollah official, as well as seven injuries of Hezbollah and Arab clans supporting Future Movement and one of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) members. The meeting included speeches by the different parties, the village’s Sheikh Ibrahim and mayor Refaat al-Asaad. They all confirmed their keenness to maintain stability, national unity and coexistence and stressed that the area houses Lebanese citizens of various religious sects. They also stressed that holding on to the Lebanese legitimate power is the only way to do this. Nasser said that the reconciliation effort is based on the will for unity and stability and the preservation of coexistence, adding: “The state is the only reference when it comes to protecting human rights in case of any dispute.” Participants then headed to Hamadeh family’s house in Saadiyat where they gave their condolences for the death of one of the family members (who was a member in Hezbollah) before heading to the residence of Mukhtar Asaad where the reconciliation was concluded.
