Founder of a new Egyptian liberal political party Hamdeen Sabahi said on Tuesday President Morsi needs to reform the constituent assembly as promised. He said Morsi should ensure that no one should have more power over the constitution. He founded his party to represent the hopes of Egyptians and Arabs, fighting for freedom and social justice. Sabahi, a former candidate for the presidency in this year’s election, held a meeting with Fatah member Azzam al-Ahmad. Azzam al-Ahmad visited Cairo to meet a number of Egyptian politicians. Fatah urged for more support to recognise Palestine as a state. Al-Ahmad said Egypt is bound by the Camp David Treaty and there is great concern from his party about the situation in Sinai. He said if the situation is left unaddressed, the consequences would multiply. But Sinai would not necessarily turn into the threat that paralyses Egypt, he said.
