Huthi attacks

The Saudi Cabinet yesterday denounced the Houthi militias' non-compliance after the announcement of a cease-fire during the peace talks between the Yemeni parties under the auspices of the United Nations in Geneva, and their violation of the truce by committing actions that don't serve the negotiations to find a peaceful solution to the Yemeni cause.

The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi said in a statement to Saudi Press Agency following the session that the Cabinet reviewed the latest developments in the region and the results of regional and international meetings and consultations regarding them.

In its session yesterday, which was chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Cabinet hailed the United Nations Security Council resolution No. 2254 on Syria, which sets up the political process to resolve the crisis on the basis of the principles of the Geneva Declaration 1 and the Conferences of Vienna 1 and 2 based on the formation of a transitional governing body with full political and security powers that can administer the country's affairs in light of the preservation of national unity of Syria and its territorial integrity and enabling this transitional governing body to develop the road map for the future of Syria.

It also expressed the Kingdom's welcoming of signing a peace agreement in Skhirat city in Morocco between various Libyan parties under the auspices of the United Nations, and the Kingdom's hope that the accord contributes to the restoration of security and stability in Libya under its national unity and territorial integrity.

The Cabinet expressed the Kingdom's solidarity with the Government of Federal Nigeria in confronting terrorism, and standing by its side, following the terrorist operations that took place in Nigeria recently.

The Cabinet stressed that the joint statement on announcement of the formation of the Islamic alliance to fight terrorism militarily, intellectually and in the media in coordination with the important countries in the world and international organisations, which includes a group of Islamic states that make up the majority of the Islamic world, embodies the achievement of integration, closing of ranks, unification of efforts to combat it in all its forms and manifestations and eliminate its objectives and causes, and the performance of the duty to protect the nation from the evils of all armed and terrorist groups and organisations whatever might be their doctrines and names.

The Cabinet commended the support of a number of Arab, Islamic and friendly countries, international organisations and parliaments for the formation of Islamic alliance against terrorism and every effort to combat and eliminate it
